They participate in unaccepted behavior yet expect to be tolerated and usually rebel when objected (pg 125).Most parents and relatives of drug users are, or were responsible people, therefore the contention that the user resorted to drugs as a family pattern is usually a lie (pg128). Most parents do not know their child is abusing drugs because the user usually shows no signs and hides the drugs well (pg 129). Once convinced that their child is using drugs they are at loss on what to do (pg 130). Although the parent views their childà ¢Ã¢â ¬s drug use as a problem, the child does not; in fact to him the only problem is that he was caught (pg 131).It is a universal view that drug use is the cause of the userà ¢Ã¢â ¬s antisocial behavior but in reality the focus should be on the pre drug personality of t he user (pg 133). More often than not, a drug user is pitied and viewed as a victim by society (Pg 138).Drug users attest to the fact that drug involvement usually starts at Junior High School; there is little or no drug use in Elementary school. Drug use in the school grounds largely depends on the schoolà ¢Ã¢â ¬s attitude towards drugs. It is interesting to note that even when drugs are not used at school, school may be used for talking, planning and if the schoolà ¢Ã¢â ¬s surveillance is not good, sales may occur in the school grounds (pg 139).Furthermore, stricter student supervision and anti drug attitude does not prevent drug use; it just means the student seeks his criminal experiments off school (pg 142).Drug users have total opposition to work and only hold a job when absolutely necessary (pg 142). They are capable and talented and can easily fulfill minimal requirements that satisfy their employer. As long as they do their job and no one complains about them, they es cape detection (pg 143). The first reaction an employer has when he learns an employee is using drugs is compassion, they try to help rather than punish then. Some employers believe it is the work environment that is causing the drug use. On the other hand, there are some employers who will terminate an employee at the first suggestion that they are drug...
